Hey there 👋,
I’m excited to share another milestone with you all! After months of work, brainstorming, and countless iterations, the redesign of MoodFlora is finally complete! 🎉 With the help of a freelance UI / UX designer I reshaped the whole UI of MoodFlora. This update brings a fresh look and new features to improve the experience, and I want to share what I learned a long the way.
The Journey to a New MoodFlora
Redesigning the app was a unique experience, filled with “aha!” moments and a few challenges that made the end result even more rewarding. My goal was to make MoodFlora not only more visually appealing but also more intuitive and helpful for the users.
Key Lessons I Picked Up
Reflecting on this journey, here are some important lessons that reshaped the process for me:
- Start with the Design, then Code
In the early stages, I found myself jumping into the code, only to realize later how crucial it is to have a clear design in place first. Now, I’m a big advocate for planning the design fully before writing even a single line of code. It makes life a lot easier. - Don’t Hesitate to Get Help from a UI/UX Designer
As someone still growing my design skills, bringing in a designer’s perspective was invaluable. Their expertise made a huge difference in taking MoodFlora from good to great, and I highly recommend this for anyone feeling uncertain about design. It just takes too much time for me to bring the design to that level. - Fix Bugs Right Away
Another hard-learned lesson: don’t leave bugs lingering for later. Not only did fixing issues as I went along save me a ton of time, but it also kept the project moving smoothly. - Avoid Too Many Shortcuts
Cutting corners might save time initially, but it can complicate things down the line (trust me on this one!). Learning to do things right the first time, even if it takes a bit longer, has been a game-changer.
